Q&A with Dr. Keamy: Skinvive, the Injectable Moisturizer!
2/17/2025
LT: Hi, Dr. Keamy. I hear you are offering a new injectable called Skinvive. Tell me about it. Is it a filler?
JK: No, Skinvive is not a filler, although its carrier is hyaluronic acid, which may be where the confusion comes in. Skinvive is the first of its kind – an injectable microdroplet that activates the aquaporins in our skin. And your next question is . . .
LT: You guessed it! What on earth are microdroplets and aquaporins?!
JK: Microdroplets are delivered in small injection points between the layers of skin. Aquaporins are the channel proteins that move water and glycerol in and out of cells. Instead of staying put as a typical filler would, Skinvive quickly diffuses and creates a thin layer below the surface of the skin.
LT: Very cool! Are the results immediate, and how long do they last?
JK: Improvements in the skin’s tone, texture, elasticity, hydration, and moisture occur within a week or two. When I treat the lips, the gloss is fantastic! The results last about six months, making biannual treatments optimal.
LT: I’ve heard Skinvive and Sculptra comparisons, asserting similarity. Would you please speak to that?
JK: Of course! Sculptra is delivered subcutaneously, at the deepest layer of skin. It stimulates collagen production and gradually increases facial volume at the injection site. It lasts about two years, although I recommend refreshing it before that. Skinvive is delivered intradermally and stimulates aquaporin activity. Both treatments diminish fine lines and wrinkles.
LT: Very informative, Dr. Keamy. Thank you very much.
